I used to think that a "perfect" lesson meant a perfect lecture. At the time, I was teaching at a school full of high achievers. Because they were so respectful and attentive, I fell into a comfortable, but dangerous, "norm."
I would spend forty minutes at the front of the room, meticulously mapping out the logic of a complex problem. I’d be deep in the flow, chalk in hand, feeling like I was delivering a masterpiece. Because the students were so focused, I assumed the timing was perfect.
But then, I’d reach the final, crucial step and turn around to finally engage with the class. I wouldn't hear the sound of zippers or students rushing out. Instead, I’d see a room full of faces with burning questions they were finally ready to ask, just as the lunch bell was ringing.
In that moment, I’d feel the weight of it. I had spent the whole period talking, and now, when they finally needed me to be their mentor, I was drained and desperate for a break. I realized that by trying to be a "perfect" lecturer, I was failing to be the mentor they actually needed.
The truth is, I love this subject. I love the logic, the patterns, and the challenge of breaking down the thinking process.
Today, I still balance my time between creating these courses and working as a high health teacher part-time. Being in the classroom keeps me grounded in the reality of what teachers face every day: the lack of time, the exhaustion, and the desire to truly "see" every student.
I created this platform to provide the tools I use myself: ready-to-use lessons paired with matching PDFs. Your students watch the video, complete the PDF, and arrive in class ready for you to step in as the mentor. I’m not here to take the lecture off your plate, but to handle the "delivery" so you can stay fresh for the students.
I am building this in the hours between my own teaching shifts because I believe we can make the classroom a place of connection again.
If you find these lessons helpful and they make your teaching life a little easier, I’d appreciate your support. For about the cost of two cups of coffee, you can purchase the PDFs for a particular course. Your support directly allows me to keep balancing my work in the classroom with the creation of these resources for you.
